Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies Raises $15,000 to benefit the National MS Society

Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies held the annual Mike Burkett Memorial Golf Outing on August 9th, 2022 at Belmont Country Club in Perrysburg Ohio.  $15,000 in proceeds from the event will be donated to the National MS Society, in memory of Burkett’s Founder, Mike Burkett.   Mike Burkett passed away in March 2021 after a 34-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

What is MS?
“Multiple sclerosis is a disease that impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves, which make up the central nervous system and controls everything we do. The exact cause of MS is unknown, but we do know that something triggers the immune system to attack the CNS. The resulting damage to myelin, the protective layer insulating wire-like nerve fibers, disrupts signals to and from the brain. This interruption of communication signals causes unpredictable symptoms such as numbness, tingling, mood changes, memory problems, pain, fatigue, blindness and/or paralysis. Everyone’s experience with MS is different and these losses may be temporary or long lasting.” – National MS Society

“It’s very humbling to see customers and vendors traveling in for this event from all over the nation to support our fundraising efforts.  We are proud to work with such a generous group of people who made it possible to support a charity that is near and dear to my heart, the National MS Society. From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of all of us at Burkett, thank you!”
-Jameel Burkett, CEO, and President of Burkett Restaurant Equipment & Supplies and son of Burkett’s founder, Mike Burkett.

The Burkett Golf Outing began in 2017 with a focus on connecting with customers, vendors, rep groups, and friends.  The event was first developed to have fun, say thanks, and celebrate the shared success of Burkett and key partners and customers.  The mission of the event changed in 2021 after the passing of Mike Burkett, but we have held tight to its core and still have a great time on the course.

In 2021 the outing raised $10,000 for the National MS Society.  This year we had a record-breaking event with a full slate of sponsors and 23 registered teams. Generous donors pushed us over the edge of our original $12,500 goal helping us raise a total of $15,000 for the National MS Society from the 2022 Mike Burkett Memorial Golf Outing!

Thank you to everyone who supported us and our mission to support the National MS Society in memory of Mike Burkett.
